Let's remember, Melrose continues to grow.
The Bellamy Road , Florida's first Federal Highway (1826) came right through
Melrose. It was named Bellamy Avenue by the founders of Melrose and later named
“State Road 26” by the Florida Department of Transportation.
So, there's been knowledge of this area since the early days of the purchase of Florida
from Spain (1819) although the name Melrose was not adopted until in the 1870s.
Ever since then, the community has continued to grow and prosper. Yet, we're still trying
to define Melrose and how we, the present citizens, would like to see Melrose progress
into the future.
As we all live in the area, we should all take part in deciding the future direction we
want for our little lakeside community. If we fail to plan, someone else will plan for us
and we probably won't like the results. So, it's important we all speak out and voice our
desires for what we want from our community.
Some specific areas we would like your comments on are:
-
What are ways the Melrose Business & Community Association, Inc. (MBCA) can provide
support to the entire community? After all, our motto is: “for the benefit of Melrose.”
So, what else should the MBCA be doing for the community?
-
Tell us what you view as "hot issues" that may affect our community such as: police
coverage, roads, schools, taxes, utilities, etc.
-
What additional stores and/or services would you like to have available in Melrose?
-
We welcome any other thoughts you have about anything else "for the benefit of Melrose."
To make this easy for all to comment and tell their wants, dreams, and goals for Melrose,
just post your comments below. All information obtained is private and the submitter
does not have to be revealed.
Here's the opportunity to do a big service to your community. Speak up!
